Interview this Friday...

meh I'm having my interview soon.. had to reschedule it and he sounded ****ed ack : ( I expect you guys will be getting emails/calls whatever soon if not yet already :p

anyway, have fun, good luck wmgan for you 'a's, vanillaice for you 'o's :p and yeah all the best for the interviews all of ya

I thought of applying to UM but decided against it (remember RJC's 8-schools policy?). I'm still considering applying to the school of music at UM as a safety (without letting RJC know I'm doing that).

how do you apply without RJC knowing? you'll need recommendation letters and transcripts, right?
i sent an email to Yale asking them about whether they have processed my application and when my alumni interviewer will contact me. they replied and said that i'll have to wait a bit, but i should be getting the call/email soon.
oh thanks mugen...are you from singapore too?

Well, typically music conservatories require recommendations not from academic teachers but from music teachers. They do require transcripts, but not secondary school reports (except Oberlin, as far as I know) and since our schools don't provide official transcripts anyway, I'll send them a copy of my O-level results and tell them I'll send a copy of my A-level results after they're released. I believe they won't be too particular about this because the main consideration for admission into a music conservatory is performance ability (ie. the audition).

(In fact, two years ago I applied to and was accepted at the Royal College of Music, London, even though on paper they said they required the A-levels and I hadn't taken them. They didn't offer me a scholarship, however, so I had to turn down the place. Good thing I did, anyway, because I now realize I don't want to exclusively study music. In fact, given a choice, I would rather pursue academic studies.)

Hey, this might be a stupid question...but .. .is it inappropriate for the interviewer to drive to your town to interview you? ....Should we make all possible effort to drive to the interviewer's city even on a school day? I was contacted, and the person said she would be able to drive to my city if transportation for me would be a problem.....however, is it still rude to ask them to drive down?

As long as she offered, I don't see any problem.

wow wmgan that's really incredible. you must be really talented! what instrutment do you play? i actually play the piano, like all good obedient Chinese girls. but i gave it for the whole year because i've been too busy with my o levels and college application.
