I applied to Yale SCEA before the end of August and have still not been contacted by an alumni for an interview. I live in Miami, so I would assume that there are many alumni in the area. I read through the yale alumni interviews FAQ and it seems strange that I haven't been contacted yet. Is this normal? What should I do?

Madness?

You should wait until you are contacted. :)

madness (n) - senseless folly

I’m just anxious becuase I read that apps for EA start getting read in mid-october and I would assume that decisions are made by late November. I don’t have that much time left to have an interview at this rate. I swear that Yale is going to put me into cardiac arrest before this whole thing is over!

I applied to Yale SCEA in mid-October. I was never contacted for an interview. I still got in.

Don’t worry about it… :)

Interviews just started in my neck of the woods. I’ve never seen alumni interviews assigned before October. Things are just getting started.

I can’t say for sure, but I don’t think this is correct. Under two months really isn’t much time to make admissions decisions on over 5000 applicants. I believe they finish making their final decisions around a week prior to the time decisions are actually posted. Otherwise, what would justify waiting an extra 2-3 weeks before notifying applicants?

DD never had an alumni interview - and she is now a junior. Relax, it is way too soon to start worrying.

Hey! I applied EA, I just sent my app in last Sunday, and I was called for an interview Friday. I would just call the admissions office just to check to see what the status of the interview situation is, and plus it shows your interest. good luck :)

I don’t really agree with this. Yale has over 20k applicants every year. They can’t record when each one called and slip a note into each file. Even if they did, “interest” hardly means anything because probably like 70% of the applicant pool is genuinely “interested”. Schools like Yale don’t need your interest. ;)

Madness? This is SPARTA!

This took way too long. I’m disappointed in you, CC.

@ Buddy ■■■■ thats the first thing I thought of when i read this thread title lol.

Do you get called for an interview after they’ve received everything i.e. application, supplement, recs, transcript etc. and you can access your Eli account or just after the app+supp?

Around here they’re still ■■■■■■■■ for interviewers so the process is barely begun.

I believe there’s a saying, “Patience is a virtue.”

Folks, it’s a complicated process with hundreds, maybe thousands of alumni all over the world, and local organizations, and everyone has other things to do. Some local clubs are well-organized; others not so much. Same with the interviewers. Have a little patience.

i just got contacted by phone today for an interview!!! isn’t it really early right now?!??! dudee i was freaking out!!

In our area, the earlier you get your application in, the earlier you’re contacted for an interview. In prior years, kids were getting calls by now.

it went to answering machine…and a voice came on, i was expecting a telemarketer…
“hello, this is (name) calling from YALE” and i was like WHOA YALE?!?!?

S. submitted his application (not the references or transcript) 2.5 weeks ago. He was called 10 days later and has his interview on Friday. But we do live in DC (not “DC” as in VA/MD… the suburbs…) but DC proper. I think it would be very easy for them to pull an alum from here. Yale , Harvard and Columbia --unlike Brown --have been very “well-oiled” machine-like about paper work and communications. Son however is only interested in Yale and Brown of the Ivies at this point and has applied EA to Yale.
