has anyone interviewed? i know you dont get an opportunity to do so until your app is turned in. i love vandy and am applying ED1. the admissions officers said they dont count demonstrated interest...so why interview? the reason im balking is that i tend to be a bit shy and i dont want to mess up my chances.
what do you think?

Honestly, I don’t think it matters. Daughter did not do the alumni interview and was admitted ED. If you don’t think an interview will help you, I wouldn’t do it.

Interview! it is good experience and most alum realize that Vandy is made up of introverts and extroverts and some kids who are both outlooks. Lots of bright people are not chatty but if you think you can be more forthcoming once you are on a real subject, then interview. It shows confidence and willingness to step in the breach a little and you may learn something that will be an addition to your Why Vandy is a Fit for me paragraph. (our son became MORE interested in Vandy after seeking out a local Vandy alum and then doing a formal alum interview with someone else…why? because he had bought into stereotypes about Vandy and after his interviews he felt greatly encouraged that he could find his own peer group there after all.
Interviewing with alum is a dicey business since alum like to talk about themselves…but you can also be a smart listener.
