For schools that include an interview with the audition, what sort of questions can be expected?

This seems to vary from school to school and from kid to kid, inm. My D, who is now a sophomore at NYU Tisch/CAP21, was asked a variety of things, from questions about her choice of song or monologue, to questions about stuff on her resume (friendly questions … not inquisition-style questions!) to questions about her career plans, etc. I don’t think the interview is usually as much an interview as an attempt by the auditor to get to know you.

During my auditions, I was asked about a few of my teachers from UArts Precollege, I was asked why I decided to audition at the school, why I decided to pursue musical theatre, what my future goals are. Whatever you do, don’t answer a certain way just because you think the auditor wants to hear it. They can tell when you are being fake. Be yourself. That’s what they really want to see anyways. Good luck!
