Interviews

OK, my interview is tomorrow-- she said it'd be short, but I don't believe her, lol...

but she's coming here! to my house! I've never had that happen before with an interview. I'm going to have to shut up my brothers and sister in the basement and clean like crazy and hope that she doesn't mind books all over the floors and seating...we're definitely a writer's household...

any other tips for this weird arrangement (coming over my house)?

I had a pretty bad interview and still got in, so don't worry about it.

What can I expect in way of questions and conversation?

What does the interviewer know about me already? Does he have a list of all my extracirriculars and such, or does he only have my name/phone/address?

I'm pretty sure just the name and contact details

astrix is right, unless your interviewer decides to do a Google search on you or has spoken to someone that knows you, I don't think he/she really knows much more than your name and number.

babybird87, let us know how your interview went.

it's in a couple of hours! my house has been scoured. :)

Good Luck! :)

ok! it's over...wow, she said it'd be about 30 minutes, and it was like 1 hour 20 min.

I loved it! It went really well, just like a normal conversation. We talked about music, and Hotel Rwanda (SEE IT), and criminals (because I want to go into law) and eating clubs....everything. it was great.

so much fun. plus i got to tell her that ilcapo (my friend) got in and that we were a team. :)

oh-- she did ask me what other schools i was applying to...but she didn't seem particularly interested from a competing point of view, just to see where I might end up.

I had my interview today, and I think it went pretty well! Just thought I'd share because I'm happy now.

i had my interview today.. and i think it went pretty well. We talked for about an hour and a half and she didnt even have questions or anything. So it was just straight conversation about Princeton and about her experiences and my experiences. Only weird thing was that Princeton paired a Physics major with me (Woodrow Wilson hopeful), but other than that, I thought I learned a lot about Princeton and it was a very good interview.

I dont think that the interview counts that much

Okay, for the small-talk challenged, what do u say to keep a conversation going? There were some awkward silences during my interview.....I kind of clam up around strangers :(

lilianphoebs - think of some questions before hand that you would like to ask your interviewer. This way, if your conversation gets stuck, you can get it going again with a question about Princeton.

sem - interviews arent super important, but it wont hurt to have a good interview. If you are just borderline, it might be enough to give you that extra push.

Most of my interviews have been pretty formal and almost no small talk, so I didn't have to worry about that. Mostly, they asked questions, and I answered them, and they took notes.

Mine was the complete opposite; amazingly informal. We basically sat and told stories for two hours. It was incredibly enjoyable.

My interviews have been getting better and better as I've gained more experience. Which is why it makes me upset that my first two interviews were for my top two schools.

btw, have any of you been asked what other schools you're applying to? I feel bad telling my safeties that I'm applying to all these ivies...

Damn, Zante... you're just recolonizing the Princeton board, aren't you? When I opened the forum, all along the right side, where it displays the "most recent poster," it said "Zantedeschia." :p

No it doesn't! lol not for ALL the posts, which was a feat I accomplished once or twice last year.
