Have any RD applicants been contacted about interviews? I submitted the online interview request form at least a month ago but did not get any conformation, and I have not yet heard from an alumna. Any other experiences with this?

I sent my request about a month ago, too, and I haven't gotten anything, either.

I'm thinking about calling about it next week.

I think I'll do that too. I don't want to annoy them, but I do want to have an interview and I know I submitted the form. I'm afraid to submit it again though...

I just called the admissions office tonight and left a message. I guess they're no longer taking requests for interviews so I hope they got my request; I really really want to have one! I hope they call me back, but my experience with some admissions offices has been that they don't return calls/emails.

If it's any consolation, Barnard was the last college to contact my D for an interview and was pretty late doing so, or so it seemed at the time.

Her interview and the interviewer were both fantastic and if her decision had been on the basis of interview only, she'd be at Barnard right now. So hang in there, everyone. Oh, yeah...she did apply RD and the interview request form actually got misplaced or something on our end and the request was in a few days beyond the deadline.

Ah. I just checked an e-mail archive and the interview was January 8 and I remember that it was set up just a few days in advance, like the 4th or so. Also, per the archive, notification of admission was by e-mail on March 30. So there you go.

Good luck, all.

Thanks for the valuable information, "Dad" :-) Where did your daughter end up?

She wound up at Smith, over Wellesley and Barnard. Someone, like many, who "...never intended to attend a women's college." Started out focused on schools like Columbia and Georgetown.

TheDad-
I'm applying to both Columbia and Georgetown, although I think I am unlikely to get into either. I do think I have a shot at Barnard though, and it is definitely one of my top choices. I too didn't think I would be applying to women's colleges, but visiting Barnard really changed my train of though. Thanks for your input! :)

Kiki, if you like Barnard, you really might want to scope out Wellesley, Smith, and Bryn Mawr, unless you're fixed on being in a Very Big City. My D didn't apply to Bryn Mawr because access to high-level ballet wasn't good. But. If you like Barnard, there are things about the other schools that will appeal as well. One of the two big questions my D had about Smith was whether or not Northampton was "city" enough for her...music, art, restaurants, etc. Passed with flying colors. (In contrast, while she liked Wellesley, the town itself is kind of dull and round trip to Boston is at least 90 minutes, making it something you can't just do casually.)

TheDad-
Thanks for your suggestions; I have definitely thought about Wellesley and Smith, but I really have my heart set on being in a big city. I have lived in suburban Albany, NY my entire life and really just dislike the atmosphere and lifestyle in the suburbs. That's why I think Barnard is perfect for me. The curriculum and great atmosphere of a women's college in the best city in the world :-)

I appreciate your help!

My friend did one of the on-campus interviews and said it was pretty pointless. They didn't even get her name or anything.

Really? That's weird. One other girl from my school had an on campus interview and she said it was pretty comprehensive. Maybe it depends on who your interviewer is.
