If I attend UMD, I would like to do a new activity. I want to try something like sailing or lacrosse. Do they have those activities for people who have little to no experience? I only played recreational lacrosse for a few years, and I have no sailing experience. Also, if I did one of these activities, do you think I'd still have time for schoolwork, a job, and possibly a research position?

Ultimate. Frisbee. We’ll have free time.

Intramural sports are big here. I play basketball, flag football and soccer.

Sailing is a club thing here. Sounds like a ton of fun though. I have always wanted to try sailing.

Not sure about Lacrosse.

You will definitely have enough time. Intramural sports, while competitive, are not a big time commitment.

Maryland has a really good Lacrosse team and I know they recruit students from high school so its not like intramural…they might have walk on tryouts though?

Both Maryland lacrosse teams (men and women) are currently ranked #1 in the country.
