I checked goBaylor today-- I got the scholarship! I was in the Honors session.

did you get the chancellor scholarship ? Did you have any other scholarships like regent’s or dean’s ?

Wow they must be getting hit hard. Can’t even log into my daughter’s goBaylor account–keep getting server error message… But she said she did earlier and there wasn’t anything there, so I assume she will get the “sorry you didn’t get it” letter in the mail in the next couple of days. :-/ Oh well.

No, I got the faculty scholarship.

It was listed under “Financial Aid” under “View your awards”

EowynInk, congratulations.

@Eowynlnk, congrats! If I remember that is stackable with other awards too?

@mytwods Thanks! I’m not sure. What I do know is that if I also get the Regents Gold full tuition scholarship (which I will since I am NMF) the faculty scholarship covers room, board, and fees.

Double congrats! My D is a freshman NMF in Honors/University Scholars. She is very happy at Baylor, hope you will be too!

EowynInk, how did you know you got faculty scholarship ? Does it directly say a faculty scholarship ? Or, was the amount of scholarship changed to $137,920 without mentioning a faculty scholarship ?

It says Baylor Faculty scholarship, plus I got the letter in the mail. It’s the faculty scholarship they compete for at I2E.

Mytwods, is there any issue for your D to take both honor programs together?

@Dad2013, none… my simple view is that being in Honors allows/requires a certain number of honors classes and a specific GPA and USchol adds program flexibility to create ones own course requirements outside of an existing major.

mytwods, thanks for the info. :)

A letter came, confirming my kid received a faculty scholarship. (goBaylor didn’t indicate it.) I’m proud of my kid’s hard work and accomplishment since it’s rare chance to get it. (~10 of the great I2E participants as I know.)

@Dad2013, that must have been a wonderful surprise.

@dad2013, congrats to both you and your kid!

Congratulations to those of receiving the faculty scholarships! Would you mind sharing your stats? Our dd is a high school junior and very likely NMF. We are trying to determine if she should retake ACT and/or SAT to see if she can get higher scores. She has strong scores but just wondering what kind of numbers we should be looking at to be in serious consideration for the faculty awards. Without the faculty award, it is unlikely she would be able to attend. Thanks so much ahead of time and again, congrats!!

The NMF qualifications fluctuate yearly and cut off scores vary from state to state, so check here for the 2014 scores: http://www.collegeplanningsimplified.com/NationalMerit.html. That one PSAT/NMSQT score is what will or won’t get you the full tuition scholarship. Once your student qualifies as NMF, and the SAT shows similar results, then BU will cover full tuition (roughly 2/3 of total cost). You will then want to apply for additional BU and outside scholarships to cover the rest. My child scored right at the cut-off in Dec. 2009 and just graduated from Baylor last week with the equivalent of a “full ride” thanks to various other scholarships. Also, the posted Cost of Attendance is assuming you pay full price for books, fullest meal plan, higher end housing choices, etc. My child chose rather frugally and averaged roughly $2000 a year less than the estimate, so that helped. If you end up getting the NMF scholarship, DEFINITELY plan to study abroad one summer, between sophomore or junior year. We weren’t planning on that originally, but found out that was also COVERED by the NMF scholarship. My child had the richest educational experience, thanks to BU and the NM program!

To add to the above, my daughter found books much cheaper than that estimated in COA starting at 1/2 PB and then going to amazon.

She is studying abroad this summer, you pay for airfare & program costs, but tuition is covered in Regent (NMF) scholarship HOWEVER, it is not automatic, you have to fill out a simple form requesting tuition deferment through the Fin Aid office.
