We are still waiting as well…

Anyone hear anything at all, even rumors, of when we will be notified? :)

I believe they are going to award the faculty scholarships in January but not sure when in January.

When was everyone notified that they were invited?

The invitation to the “Invitation to Excellence” came in October I think, and the event was November. I am not sure, but… I think they also do one in the Spring as well.

Is the faculty scholarship the most prestigious scholarship in Baylor ? Homw much and how many ?

What is the criteria for it? I have a 30 ACT score, does it need to be higher? I’m just curious because it’s a lot of money at stake!

My daughter was invited to the excellence day in 1/31-2/1. When she is in the event, what will I do ? I know there is a dinner on Friday but don’t know details on the event schedule especially for parents. :(

I attended I2E with my daughter in November. The parents are with the students during the Friday dinner (along with the meet & greet time afterward). On Saturday, the students are separated from the parents after an initial group session in the auditorium. Parents are provided with a couple of informational sessions in other buildings, there is a lounge-type area set up (where the financial aid appointments are also held) and tours of the campus are provided throughout the day. It is totally up to you what you want to do. We had some cold weather during the November session so many parents hung out in the lounge where they had some drinks and snacks plus a big screen set up to watch football (not sure what will air in late January - basketball?). Parents and students are reunited late afternoon for a last session before everyone is dismissed and permitted to take residence hall tours.

@Buckyeatheart, So, the I2E starts with a dinner reception in Friday evening. Thanks for the information. I may bring my computer with extra DVD movies for Saturday since I’m not a basketball fan. :)

I just called Baylor’s undergraduate admissions office and was told that the last day for faculty to turn in their results for the Nov 2013 I2E is Friday – tomorrow! Letters should be going out next week!!!

Got letter today, did not get the scholarship :(

Has anyone received any details regarding the Jan/Feb I2E? It’s in a week and a half but we have not received a follow up e-mail since Jan 7th.

I found the follow up e-mal from Baylor on the I2E event.

Does anyone have hotel recommendations? Thanks.

There is a courtyard by marriot literally right there one campus. But if you want a very nice but more economic place I recommend the fairfield inn. Its marriott’s bargain brand. I stayed there with my son at the I2E in the fall and it was like new, cheap and had a free breakfast. It was about a 5 minute drive to Baylor.

Thanks, brawny77!

The day before I was supposed to go to the Invitation 2 Excellence, it started icy raining here. I called about cancelling and I asked how many earn the scholarships. They said they expect over 100 at that one event alone, but will only give out maybe 2 at that event. I got that straight from the school. IF they give out 10, it will be over the course of the entire year, not each time.

I believe there were around 250 at the November I2E. I don’t know that they have ever published a firm number, whether the number per event or per academic year (since they have two events per academic year).

There were four kids at each table at the dinner (plus parents plus a prof) We were table number 116… not sure if there were 4 at every table but I think that there were at most so that means there must have been over 400.

We attended the I2E event earlier this month. One of the speakers at the dinner noted that the registration filled up in THIRTEEN MINUTES and that there were 250 students total at the event. They were very specific about the numbers, including info about the scholarships. They said there would be 10 given, and it was definitely for this one event. A parent asked if that was 10 scholarships per department (ha!) and the financial aid guy said, “no, ten total.” Perhaps it’s 2 per academic session/section, and that’s where the misunderstanding occurred. They also said the notifications go out Feb. 28. The event was impressive and the $2,000 scholarship you get just for attending is sweet even if you don’t get anything else!
