Iowa sstp 2012

You can add me on facebook and I will add you in that group?
PM me for info.

Hey I’m a junior from Colorado!
Female, Asian
4.X weighted GPA
Student Council Historian, 1st in Region Science Fair, Science Oly Capitan, Varsity XC and Track Runner and a bunch of filler activities.

I did get accepted but I’m waiting for other replies to really know if I want to go.

Hey fcafca, let’s not jump so far yet. Let’s wait till everyone has paid the fees and is confirmed to go.
spaddes, what other programs did you apply to?

Has anyone pay their fees yet or everyone is still waiting ??

waiting for the lab placement

mmhmm also waiting for placement

Me too… but what if they think we are not coming if we don’t pay them ?? Wouldn’t you think like that too if you are not getting any response ??

There’s a page on the SSTP website that says the deadline for online acceptance is May 1… I think. It could have been April 1.

Yep… the deadline is quite far away at the moment. I’m also waiting for placement.

MITES
JSEP
CURIE
SSTP
HSSSRP
SIP

Those are all the ones I’ve applied to thus far with more coming this 1st of April.

I just found out today I got wait-listed.

Is there anyone who got accepted and is not going by any chance? ;D

Spaddes - That’s a lot of programs, did you get accepted into SSTP ??
Why so many programs ??
Which ones have a deadline after April 1st ??

I wonder if anyone got a lab assignment that hasn’t pay the fees ??
Anyone ?
Or you have to paid the fees before they will assign labs ??

@spades- thanks for sharing the stats.
@Tehlofflies - you may have the chance, and you will know after the lab placement. Btw, mind to share your stats?
@bbcarol - the acceptance letter mentioned 4/6 to notify the lab placement, no fee yet

sophomore girl from IL
weighted: 4.9
u/w (not counting this semester’s grades): 3.9
2 APs this year (2 last year)
math team, cross country, yearbook, piano…

Perhaps a weakness in my application was my PSAT score which was a 201 and not much previous experience.

@tehofflies: I got PSAT score of 198 and absolutely ZERO previous experience so I can assure you that this wasn’t a weakness in your application. I’m a sophomore too.

Yes, but a 198 is good considering you’re not from the US, and you have a lot of honors and awards to boot. I had a very ordinary application, if you get what I mean by “ordinary”.

@tehlofflies, thanks for sharing your stats…it’s hard to guess the acceptance criteria. If you read this thread carefully, you’ll find out there’s at least one person won’t go . The student has been accepted by RSI.

Yeah, but I’m not the only alternate. I have my fingers crossed! Is the only thing I can now is wait?

@tehlofflies: Yup, that’s probably the only thing you can do right now. Don’t get discouraged though (: Did you apply to any other summer programs?
