Iowa sstp 2012

I have a question that’s kind of weird, but does anyone who is going to SSTP this summer play volleyball? And is there space/time to play or train, or is that just weird? because right when I get back from SSTP I’ll be having tryouts for the fall season and I was hoping I could practice a bit while at SSTP, or at least not get really out of shape by sitting around all day.

@tehlofflies, they accepted about 7-8 extra students because they knew some would not choose to go. Chances of alternates getting accepted are extremely low, unless half of the people accepted died or something.

sorry to crush your hopes but that’s life for you

@kairoux: I’m pretty sure we have free time after research every day. At least an hour to do whatever we want. Not sure if you’re allowed to use the volleyball courts, but there’s always the grassy field x)

@bbcarol
I did get accepted to SSTP though I’m kinda peeved that they just changed my FA because my family really can’t afford anymore than what they had but um I guess I just wanted to increase my chances / mirror the college application process. I also just like so many programs!
Um I just finished applying to SAMS and HSHSP.
So… Yeah?
I mean we’ll see when I get the declinations/acceptances this April.

Any lab placement yet ?? Did anyone got a lab placement yet ??
Anxiously waiting !!
Just wondering how did you find out that they accepted a few more in case of someone not going ?

Hey!!! anyone of you got your I20 and what is the procedure for obtaining it.WIll it be sent by the university or indivisual efforts are required?

@fcafca: I think the University of Iowa will take care of that, but you should email/call Ms Warren early to find out, it might take sometime to get it. Have you pay your fees yet, I don’t think they will get your I20 unless you pay them the foreign student fees, that’s part of the I20 visa.

@fcafca: Yes, University of Iowa will take care of that but after the fees are paid and it’s confirmed that you’ll be attending.

About 6 more days till final decisions come out! So excited :D

Weird question, but do you guys remember the honors you submitted for the applications? Did they have to be relevant to science and whatnot or could they be whatever?

Science related

I don’t think they HAVE to be science-related, though it’s probably better if they are.
But I actually don’t really have any science-related honors, just general academic honors and some other ones related to my extracurriculars.

“the honors in the area” - thought it’s science related. academic honors could be one of them though

Question: anyone do tennis? Looking for a potential practice partner lol.
And what did you all pick for your lab placements (as your choices)?

Actually, for honors, I even included something like Most Valuable Runner (for cross country) and some choir thing. I don’t think the honors played tooo big of a factor in admissions.

I used to play tennis! But I haven’t practiced for a while… So yeah I don’t think I’d be a good practice partner xD
I’d love to go running with anyone though! Something I’m pretty sure most of us can do  I definitely need to get in shape for cross country.

Cross country runner here! If I get in, let’s be running buddies :D

I just got my acceptance email today…is it late or something? Cuz I didn’t get a waitlist letter either. I’m most likely going depending on other programs I applied too. p.s. We can be tennis buddies! I’ve been playing a lot lately. XD

Hi guys, I was accepted too, although I just found this forum. I am a sophomore boy from the Bay Area in California.

Hi musicrox1815! Wow it’s pretty late for an acceptance letter. Congrats anyways, glad you’ll probably be joining us!

Yay catmario, another Bay Area person :)
