Are they going to send out all the emails at the same time or will some people be notified before others?

I’m a freshman. I’m really proud of my writing sample and personal statement, my transcript was strong and I’m pretty sure my English teacher would have written a positive recommendation. But on the website they said they only accept “exceptionally bright and mature 9th graders, if there is space.” Does this mean that freshmen are only accepted if upperclassmen reject their spot? I hope not, because I’m pretty sure very few people would say no after getting in.

Probably. I think the standout freshmen are put on the alternate list.

So I’m trying to brainwash myself into thinking that Iowa notifies me next week. It eases the nerves.
Okay. I guess I probably won’t get in but that’s to be expected. I can try again next year. I was accepted into the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp for writing…that’s my 2nd choice. Does anybody know about the quality of Interlochen?

Don’t sweat it It’ll be awesome if you’re accepted but not the end of the world even otherwise. There are tons of other opportunities for aspiring writers.

I’ve heard good rap about it, and it seems delightful for people who are really into the arts. I would definitely root for Iowa, but Interlochen sounds awesome too.
@TheWriter9 I know someone who went to Interlochen, and he seemed to have enjoyed it. I think you have to do two different “courses” (e.g. poetry, fiction, screenwriting)

As for quality, well, the school is highly-renowned for its exquisite art focus and very competitive to get into, so that vibe probably rolls into the Summer Camp.
By the way, last year I got my rejection letter at 9:30 AM Central Time.

And @TheWriter9, Interlochen looks amazing. I was considering going there, but wanted a more solely fiction oriented workshop. Either way, I’m sure you’ll learn a lot and have fun.
