I am alien to this whole process so I'll be asking a lot of questions...Sorry about that. Anyway on the student checklist, it says we have do a math, spanish or french exam. Is it compulsory? and is there a deadline? How is it like? is it just a basic exam? because I was going to do it now and I just wanted to ask these few questions before I start. Also, I thought the university gave us our timetable or classes and then we have to choose the ones we prefer in the second year? I'm used to the british system thats why i'm asking. So do we choose our own classes then? and is there a limit?

Yes the math and language placement are mandatory. they want to know how far you are in each area so they know where to place you when you arrive on campus. Some students will be placed in advanced classes based on their performance whereas others will be placed probably in remedial. And you choose classes yourself but there are aboutr one or two you must take upon arriving at the university. I’m in the College of Arts and Sciences and I took a six weeks, one credit required introductory class. This class helps you get a glimpse of whats to come in your college career and helps you plan ahead and start with a plan so you can have a smooth transition later on. I also took a required class known as CAS 100. It is an intense writing class. (well my class was) But each college within the university would most likely have it’s own required set of classes you must take on top of your own chosen classes.
