IRS Tax Transcript

I'm sorta confused about this on the financial aid to-do list. Do I have to send one, even if I didn't file taxes.

You don’t have to have one if you didn’t file, but your parents will if they filed. I hate this new requirement, it’s such an extra process…

If you, as a student, did not file any taxes this year, you still need to fill out a non-filer statement found on the Cornell FA website as a link. If your parents were able to transfer their tax data from the FAFSA to the CSS profile via a new on-line process, then they do not need to send in an IRS transcript. If they did not transfer the data from the FAFSA, they need to contact the IRS and request an IRS transcript of their taxes be sent to their home and then forward it to Cornell. It takes about 10 days to get the transcripts, so I’d get right on it if they have not done so already.
