Irvine major requirement, instant rejection?

I’m majoring in chemistry and Irvine’s transfer requirements for chemistry say this:

https://admissions.uci.edu/apply/transfer/requirements.php

"
Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in required courses below:

Complete one year of general chemistry with laboratory with a grade of B or better in each course
Complete one year of approved calculus
"

So my problem is that i have a 2.75gpa in those classes because i got a C in calc 1. But i’m already taking calc 3 and ochem 2. It seems like such a waste of time to go back and retake calc 1 to change my C to a B. I don’t even know if i could retake it since i got a C and its considered passing, i’d have to go to another community college and even then it might not replace the grade.

So am i guaranteed to be rejected if i don’t meet this requirement?

I think you will have a difficult time getting in since the UC GPA transfer admit range in 2016 was 3.35-3.79 for Chemistry based on your cumulative GPA, even if you passed Calc 1 with a B. I would definitely contact UCI for confirmation since they will have the ultimate say.

I have a 3.4 overall, my 2.75 is just for those 4 classes. I emailed Irvine asking about this.
