Will dropping a major prep class get my admission denied?

Major: Chemistry
GPA: 3.09
IGETC: Completed
Applied: UCSC, UCSD, UCSB, UCD, UCI
Tag: None
Accepted: UCSC, UCSB, UCSD
Pending: UCI
Rejected: UCD

Major prep taken:
Chem: Up to organic chem II
Math: up to Calc II
Physics: not started

Question: Got a B in Calc I, and B- in Calc II. Currently taking Calc III right now. Have a 76% in the class, still 1 more exam and final left. Calculated my grade and I need a 50% on the final in order to get a C in the class. As long as I get a C in all my classes this semester, I won’t be denied to any of the UCs that have already accepted me, right? Just double checking, I’m a bit uneasy right now. Not sure if I should ride it out and hope to get at least a C or take a W.

Leaning on towards SIR to UCSD.

You need to look at what your provisional contract says at each UC.

Thanks Ohm, just found it for UCSD.
Complete at least 60 semester or 90 quarter UC transferable units by the end of Spring term 2017 with an overall UC grade point average (GPA) of at least a 3.00.
Remain in good academic standing in your last regular term with at least a 2.00 GPA for UC-transferable course work for that term.
Complete subject requirements by the end of Spring term 2017, including two UC-transferable English composition courses; one UC-transferable math concepts and quantitative reasoning course; four UC-transferable courses chosen from at least two of the following areas: arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, physical and biological sciences.
Pass above subject requirements with grades of “C” or better

Gonna ride it out for a C. Math is not my strong point.

@allgentix I know your pain, math is also not my strong subject and I’m also taking Calc 3 right now. I share the same major with you and saw that you’re still pending for UCI. Since you’re leaning towards UCSD, might not matter but if you want to know, UCI, the contract for me required me to get a B or above in Calc 3 this semester. Don’t know if this differs from person to person or the same for major.

Hey sekime. Where in the contract did it say that you needed a B in calc 3? The quote I posted above was directly from myadmission, where it stated in the contract that I only needed to maintain Cs. Ugh… makes me un nervous again. Maybe I should call ucsd admission.

@allgentix I meant for UCI, that’s what it states on my provisional contract, if you wanted to know since I saw you were still pending for UCI and we have the same major (and that we’re both taking calc 3 this last semester). When I saw the B requirement, I was like wow they hit me where it hurts. :-S I’m in the same boat as you, I also have to get Cs or above in all of my courses for UCSD. Don’t worry about it if you’re going to UCSD :)!

@allgentix each person’s provisional is unique to them.

Hey thanks guys. I feel a lot better now. I calculated and I can pull off a B (which is what I’m aiming for) but its not gonna be easy. Just wanna be able to sleep at night knowing that I might get a C in calc 3 and still get into UCSD.

Oh nice sekime. Hope to see you in class at UCSD then lol.
