My classes work out so that I either have 14 credits in the semester, or 17, depending on if I want to add one more. One credit is a fitness, so that's easy, and if I made it 17, it'd be with an online course, which are always easier just because of no mandatory attendance. Does this still make 17 credits (the max allowed) too hard?

Did you just register today, Andreal89? My son is on his way home right now from CTOPS. It really depends on the classes you are taking. When I was in college - years ago, of course - I only took 12 credits my first semester as I was closed out of practically everything. I spent the rest of my four years playing catch-up in order to have enough credits to graduate. I told my son I would like him to take 15 credits his first semester; I heard he ended up with 14. You have to be very disciplined with an on-line course and this is your first semester at UNC so look at the requirements and how interested you are in the subject matter.

Thanks. Oh, I didn't mention I'm a transfer student; I previously attended Williams College for one year. I just found out that online courses cost an additional $800 each, and I've done a ton in the past with high school so I have the discipline just not the money. I have enough credits because of a lot of AP and SAT II credit, I just wanted to make the most of the semester.

i would really suggest you not take the online course. no, you dont have to show up, but you wont get a lot out of it either. plus it's your first semester and i think 14 will definitely be enough especially since you'll be trying to establish yourself as a transfer.
