I want to take three AP Euro, AP Human Geography, and AP Bio. I will also be taking math 3 honors & English 2 honors, along with Spanish 2. I have pretty nice grades right now, a 97% in chem, 100% in math, 99% in English and two other classes with an A+, and one with an A-(PE). It’s not for sure that I can take AP Bio anyways, considering that I have to take the biology finals and pass with a 80% to skip regular bio. My test is coming up this week, and they only gave me two weeks to study. I find most of my current classes are incredibly easy, chemistry is the most challenging, if anything. Also, the teacher for AP Bio kind of sucks, bc I have them for chemistry and they grade pretty rigorously. But, will taking these 3 AP’s be too much?
No.
No. I’m doing 3 right now and have been able to manage it fine (Chem, APUSH, Stats). Just make sure you’re a good note taker and don’t be afraid to ask questions! It’s a manageable schedule, and good luck !
Yes. Why AP Bio? Why not chemistry? that is usually the next science. You should take Bio, Chem, Physics and then an AP version of one of those.
Also why take AP Human Geo? Just take AP Euro.
^OP is taking chemistry this year.
Could you try and take AP Physics 1 or Honors Physics instead of AP Bio, and leave AP Bio/AP Chem for jr/sr year?
Sounds like you’re up for the challenge, AP Euro is taken by advanced Sophomore and AP HG is a gateway to AP class for freshmen and sophomores (basically you learn cool stuff about the world while learning the methodology to succeed in AP classes/exams), and AP Physics1 or Honors Physics would be an appropriate third class. If you take AP Bio, which is more memorization heavy and more intense than AP Physics 1, perhaps drop AP HG.
I’m not sure my school offers physics sophomore year, but they require us to take a biology course. We don’t have honors bio either, just regular and AP. So since I’m required to take bio next year, I thought I might as well challenge myself to take AP instead or regular Bio. The reason I originally wanted to take AP HG was just so I could catch up to those who took AP HG freshman year, so should I just not do AP HG and do the two others? From what I hear from people at my school is that AP Chem is extremely hard, so I’m saving that for jr year and probably doing physics senior year.
AP HUGE is taking by mostly freshman because they can. many college don’t give AP credit for that and is considered relatively easier compared to others. I have heard AP Bio is very difficult. AP euro is a common class taken Sophomore year
If you take AP Bio and AP Euro, take those only and do well in them. AP Human Geo is very interesting but really an elective.
There might be a problem because Bio and Euro are both considered to be on the harder side. Both require lots of memorization and reading with constant testing. Both of the classes will be one hour of work, minimum, per day. If you have a lot of ECs you may want to reconsider,
Yes if you have not taken any hard AP class before to gauge yourself.
I think I will leave AP HG out and just take AP Euro and AP Bio then, 2 hours of work I am fine with. I don’t really plan on doing many ECs besides a club or two. Should I also try and take math 3 over ss and go into pre-cal next year? I would say I’m good in math and it’s my favorite subject.
I would keep AP Human if you have a knack for social studies and if you are good at memorizing as well as looking at big themes. It hardly is a lot of work. Perhaps like six hours for every seven days. If you work hard in class there should be little to no homework. And many things in Human geo have been taught in other classes in your education.
If you take Math3 over SS, what would your math path look like for the next years? You don’t want to run out of classes.
Keep AP Human Geo for senior year, when you need an easy class that still helps your academic profile.
Adjusting to AP Bio + AP Euro will be enough. Don’t pile up AP’s just for the sake of having AP’s.
Think of it as a progression - and if you’re interested in social sciences, it’s better to double up jr/sr year.
If I take math 3 over ss, I’ll go into pre-cal next year and then I’ll take Math AP’s my jr & sr year
