is a 1300 pushing it?

I know the average SAT score is above a 1300, but if I have a great school record, class rank, and GPA and everything else easily fits the requirements, will a 1300 cut my chances substantially?

Also does Emory take the scores from a single seating or do they superscore?

nah dude, go for it

superscore

It's definitely going to be a negative on your app, but depending on how much you wow them with your essay and ECs, you still have a shot. And yes, they superscore the SAT, but not the ACT (which if you are currently a junior and applying next year, you should definitely give a try.).

i would retake and aim for 1400

but if test taking is a weakness and ... say.... leadership... or music.... or something else is a major strength, then forget about it and just exploit your strength.

what?? are you kidding i think a 1300 is great *** are you guys talking about. if you have a great school record on top of it i think u have a great chance.

thanks for all of your input. I worked really hard to get my SAT where it is right now (this is my 3rd time and I got a 1060 my first time). I really don't know if I have it in me to take it another time. I am taking to ACT April 12th so we'll see how that goes.

I have worked really hard to have the best high school record I could possibly have and would hate to have my chances killed by a single test.

I have a 4.2 GPA, rank 7/250, president of key club and DECA, VP of NHS, and am in a couple other clubs --captain of the golf team. I am also the Vice President of the state for DECA. I have a part time job and volunteer and have an internship this summer. So i really have worked hard to be where I'm at right now and it would suck to put that to waste because of a test

thanks again for all of your opinions

Good luck (though I don't think you need it, lol). May the force be with you. :)

haha thanks i appreciate it

lets hope we all get admitted :)

Hey, I got in RD with a 1340 and a 3.7 GPA, so you have a good chance.

Oh, and I didn't take any SAT II's.

I managed to get in with a 1290 and hardly any extracurricular activities. So don't worry about it- you definitely have a chance.

(I'm still in shock that I was accepted, really.)

...1300 out of 2400??

Scores are the least important. You don't need to submit SATII scores to Emory, which is great if you plan on taking the ACT.

I got a 1470/1600 on my last crack at the SAT, but I only submitted a 36/36 ACT score to Emory. I suggest taking the ACT and submitting that as your only score if you do well enough on it.

im assuming you mean 1300/1600. that's what i got (2000/2400) and i was accepted (rdI) so you'll probably be fine. they focus more on gpa anyway. and make sure your essays are good. good luck!

yeah it's a 1300/1600 (only 1900/2400) -- the scores seem really average, but I really put hours of work to even get it there. There was just something about the SAT I couldn't handle I guess.
I'm anxious to see how the ACT turns out - I figured if I got a half decent score, Emory would see that it really only was the SAT (and I may not even send that if ACT is high enough) but I'm not banking on anything at this point.
Thanks everyone
