Is it? Obviously im hispanic, and from texas. Also, how much of a difference would attaining this recognition make in the admission process for top schools (including ivies)?

thank you for any of your input!

I would think you would make it. IDK about attaining the recognition from the ivies. I assume they would want to icnrease hispanic attendance if you of the appropriate caliber, but maybe that doesn't happen anymore.

Last year's Texas cutoff was 181.

Yes, the 192 will make you a Hispanic Scholar. No, it won't make much of a difference at the top schools since many of the Hispanic Scholars that apply will also be NMSFs. What will really make a difference will be your SAT/ACT scores.

If you want more information go to this thread:

So we FINALLY got our scores back today. (our school is retarded sometimes!) and I got 203, 97th percentile. I'm from Indiana. Is that good enough for anything?

Commended definitely and if your Hispanic or Black than NAtional Hispanic or National Achievement

Well, not definitely gonna get anything, but pretty likely to get commended NAtional MErit and than semi on either of the others.
Indiana was 213 last year, so prolly not gonna drop by 11 this year.

Yea I knew I wouldn't get Semi I saw on another thread it was 213 last yr for IN, but I'm hoping for commended. Does that do anything for me though besides the 2 letters the NMSC sends out for me?

Unfortunately I don't think so. I know how you feel, however. I was ranked in the 98th percentile. 8 points more and I could have won the scholarship. I believe the same would apply to you.

Oh well, let's just rock the SAT and nothing else will matter.
