Is a 3 Page Additional Rec Letter OK?

Title basically says it all. Person writing it is someone who I've known in multiple aspects of life. It talks about things that would otherwise not come across on the application.

I have two teacher recs and a counselor rec already. This rec is better than those three combined.

So, should I send I send it? I'm applying to top schools like Harvard, Brown, Stanford...

…it’s more like two pages long if she uses tiny font. She also used 1.5 spacing…

Way too long! Sorry.

Send it. If it tells a lot about you that’s all that matters. It shows how much that teacher enjoyed you.

LORs are just like essays, length is not equivalent to value.

Edit.

agreed, admissions officers don’t have that much time to read your app. It may just annoy them- “the thicker the file, the thicker the applicant”. See if it’s possible for the letter to be about a page and a half, otherwise it’s way too long.

warning flag. the letter writer is unfamiliar with the purpose and format (i.e. preferred length) of rec letters. May not much experience in writing them – definitely is unaware of how they are read and digested. Might be a bad sign, to be frank.
