I just got back a 35 composite ACT score and I’m quite happy with it, but my section scores are quite unevenly distributed. I got a 36 English, 36 Math, 35 Reading, but a 32 Science. I am aiming for quite selective colleges (University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, etc.) and I’m not sure if they will see my 32 Science score as a red flag or not. I’m probably going to go into business or economics or something like that, so I don’t think science would really be essential, but for general undergraduate admissions, I’m not sure how admissions officers would view my 32 Science. Should I retake? I managed to get 35s and 34s on my ACT Science practice tests, and if I did retake, I feel like there would be a chance of grabbing a 36 composite super-score, but I’m not sure if that would make a difference at all. Thanks!
Of course, it could! These are single digit accept schools assessing the apps of the top students in the country and beyond. No clue if they break down the ACT test pieces or just assess a score for your test score portion of your app. But, yes, if they are fine tuning and looking for all the triple and quadruple loops, those who have better could be upgraded a bit. It’s a possibility. Someone with a 36 or better sub sections did do better than you did
Both Penn and UChicago consider SAT2 scores. Have you taken any, like in the sciences?
We don’t know exactly how individual schools break out the apps (well, I haven’t seen anything for these two schools). It’s not info given out. So, yes, it’s posdible , but necessarily.
You are fine with a 35 composite. Your energies are better spent on other parts of the app or potentially studying for SAT2’s if you have not taken them (or have scores below the mid 700’s).
Nope. The Science section is quite difficult for everyone, and it doesn’t apply any essential skills anyway. Don’t worry about it.
