I am going to be a Sophomore next year that is taking AP Physics 2 next year (my school switches AP Physics 1 and 2 every other year, but for some reason, they are pretty much the same from the curriculum I see on their website), Honors Chemistry, Honors English (regular English is full of idiots), German II, Honors Precalc, and AP Gov ( 2 half credit courses, such as Strength and Conditioning and Guitar I which alternates every other day).
With all that, do you think a study hall or lunch is necessary? I never really do anything in those periods but dose off and get bored. I have a study hall every other day judging from the schedule I will possibly have, but should I have a whole period?
Fill the study hall with a real class. Is this a private school thing? Have lunch though (at my kids school this is a half hour LOL, not a period). If you have not fulfilled all your fluff reqs for graduation, try and fit them in soph (arts, pe, health etc) if you can’t do them in summer/online etc. Your study hall should be an elective so you could make it academic.
If you eat at all, it’s before school. For my kids, that’s no later than 7 am. They don’t return home until close to 3 pm. Your body needs fuel during that time.
And your mind needs a break too. You’re not a machine, you’re a 16 year old kid. In a day full of Honors and AP classes (or even for those kids taking the lower level courses) your psyche needs attention too. You need a little time each day to shut down the academics and just be a teenager… not to mention a chance for a bathroom break.
Definitely take a lunch period. If you can, I would suggest a study hall. That is a lot of work, especially for a sophomore. No matter how smart you are, you still need a break.
