To Lunch or Not to Lunch - That is the Question

My school... or I guess I technically... messed up my schedule. None of the classes I'm taking for my freshman year are being taught 1st period, which means that one of my classes has replaced my lunch period. I would have to switch to a class that is being taught in the first period of the day, or, as it stands right now, I wouldn't have a lunch period.

Here's what my schedule looks like right now.

1 - Free
2 - Honors English 9
3 - Introduction to Science Research
4 - Honors Biology Lab (Odd Days)/Gym (Even Days)
5 - Honors Biology
6 - Honors Geometry
7 - String Orchestra (need one credit of arts in order to graduate)
8 - French 2
9 - Honors Global History 1
10 - Computer Programming (required to take AP Compsci in soph year)

So what to do? Could/should I go without lunch? If not, what should I take out?

Isn’t lunch the one time that students have to be social during the day? I wouldn’t want to miss it, even if I could go without eating for 9 periods- which would probably be a challenge in itself.
Your schedule looks too crammed to me, anyway. I’d drop about two classes–you’ll be in high school for four years, you might as well space things out a bit.

You’re a freshman. Don’t kill yourself the first year. You will have a terrible year if you don’t take a lunch. Drop a class or two. Keep the first period free

Since your a freshman, I’d say to take a lunch. A lot of colleges don’t care that much about freshman year anyway. Freshman year was actually the only year I had a lunch period in high school. It allows you to be social, hang out with friends, and even catch up on some HW/study a bit before a test. Plus, you will most likely get hungry throughout the day. (If you choose not to have a lunch, then try packing a sandwich or something quick to eat and eat it on the way to class, or even in class if your teachers are cool with it. At my school kids who don’t have a lunch period receive this special pass that they show their teacher and are allowed to go to the cafeteria and buy lunch. For sophomore, junior, and now upcoming senior year I’ve had this pass. [never really used it, however. i just bring food from home.])

BTW, first period free is awesome. You get to come in late, and get some SLEEP, haha.

I forgot to mention that even if I had the first period free, I would be taking the bus. My school only has buses to get there by first period (7:25 AM). It’s too far to walk and my father doesn’t want to go to the trouble of driving me there. I don’t blame him.

and there’s nothing you can fill in that 1st period slot, besides the classes you need? i’m an early-bird and I hate wasting time so instead of waiting around early or leaving my house late, i’d rather take an underwater basket weaving class. there’s gotta be something else you need for graduation, or even a silly elective that strikes your fancy.

p.s.: drop a class, eat lunch, your body and your sanity will thank you later.
