<p>I personally think it is. 34$ is hefty seeing that the book is only like 100 pages, but honestly the tips are really really good. Totally different than redbook and those, it gives a tutor’s outlook and the dude definitely knows what he is talking about. It worked for me personally (I mostly used it for Science and some English). A few of my friends used it for everything and they raved about it.</p>
<p>On a side note, I actually sent an e-mail asking about the 34$ price tag - I wanted to buy a couple for some juniors who I just started tutoring and it was kinda a lot for that purpose. Got a nice response that said it was gonna get lowered after it was available for sale in major bookstores, which they said was not going to happen till next testing season. Not gonna help us now.</p>

<p>Ways to approach passages, common question types, some good ways to cut through the unimportant stuff to simplify a question (that was the most helpful part for me), some general facts about the info in passages and stuff.</p>
<p>Probably took only about an hour to read it all, but I did find myself referring back to it a lot, and I kept the book open all the time when I was taking or correcting practice tests. That was when the tips and stuff really started to make sense.</p>
<p>TheMasterofACT advertises for the black book on every post about it. Trust me, I have almost every book out there. Black book is garbage, I even sent it to my tutor who scored 36/36 and he couldn’t believe how stupid it was. If you score 22+ don’t buy it. Its too dumbed down so it won’t help you.</p>

<p>I talk about it cause it worked really well for me and my friends. I don’t like work for the company or anything lol. It seems like you have some vendetta against it, as every single one of your posts have been discouraging it. I write about plenty of other stuff, just trying to spread the word about a helpful book too. I would agree its probably not for 30 + scorers, but I would say mid twenties could benefit a lot from it too.</p>
<p>I’d personally like to hear from anyone else out there who’s used this book - Anyone out there?? Right now it seems like a two person debate so the sample size is pretty weak.</p>
<p>well it seems that my dad went and bought the book anyway. am going to do some major studying for the February ACT so I guess I’ll work with it with my other books since I already have it</p>
<p>from what I’ve heard, don’t get it. just get the red book and you will do fine. once you learn some general strategies for each section, it’s all about practice if you want 30+. for example, work backwards on the reading test and keep your pace.</p>
<p>My friend bought it after reading this thread (he scored a 21 Plan and hopes to score a 32+ on the actual ACT, which we are taking next week). The first thing you will notice is how thin the book is, I couldn’t believe it (and it also ended up being almost 45 dollars if you include shipping + handling). I read some of it and honestly, you can get most of that stuff from any online source or by asking someone. I consistently score 34-35 composite on my practice ACTs and I have barely prepped for the ACT at all (I prepped mainly for SAT/PSAT with the Official SAT Practice Guide and some Kaplan stuff, and I used the red book and the booklets from the online ACT website). </p>
<p>So my overall message is DONT BUY THIS BOOK IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY. If you want the best book it is definitely “The Real ACT”.</p>

<p>Wouldn’t really recommend third party… the best way to go is simply to keep on taking official ACT tests from the Red Book and other sources. This way you can get familiar to the format and time of the test and it will definitely help in improving your score.</p>
