Is Algebra II killing my chances? Help!!

Hi, I just recently move to FL a month ago & am still getting used to my classes. I'm a high school sophomore & just received my progress report card last friday.

Honors Chemistry- 97
Honors Geometry- 93
Health- 93
Creative Writing- 93
Honors English- 82 (I can easily bring it up to a 90 by report cards)
Honors U.S. History- 87 (I can easily bring it up to a 90 also by report cards)
Honors Algebra II- 55 (by report cards my teacher estimated it will be a high C)

I've never failed a class in my life. I've been an Honors student all my life & I'm stressing like crazy. Is it even possible to get my grade up to a C? I'm so afraid this will keep me from my dream school. I used to live in MA & my dream was to attend Northeastern. If I do end up getting a C will that kill my chances of getting into Northeastern or any good school? please help, its all I can think about. I'm so afraid this grade is going to ruin my future. I can't begin to explain how I feel. I just need to know are my chances really ruined?

Lol how is a 55 a C?

Try your hardest, go in for extra help, do all the homework, use khan academy etc. Don’t get a C, get a B- or something, which is surely possible. Cs definitely don’t look good but they don’t rule you out of admission to schools. If you have straight As and one C on your report card, for instance, that probably wouldn’t be the biggest problem.

No I have a 55, but my teacher said if I do good on tests & quizzes my grade could be a high C by the time report cards come out

I’m in Algebra II now, and I have a 85. This class is really bringing me down also, but the best way to do better is to talk to the teacher one on one. Teachers do better when they’re explaining things to one person. Or ask questions during class. Annoy your teacher with questions lol. Study HARD for every quiz and test. Also make sure you understand the material being taught. If you’re behind on something make sure you ask for help immediately before falling too far behind. Good Luck.

LOl how? ALgebra II is so easy, especially compared to Physics C or something. This does not bode well

It’s might be a long shot depending on the teacher, but you can always ask for extra credit. The worst your teacher can say is no.

I think if the rest are straight A’s colleges can forgive a C, especially since you just moved.
