I seriously question why the kids, these “somebodies,” are not on the site instead of their parents (perhaps those kids are too obsessed about school, eh?). Enjoy the inflated stats, parents of those kids. There’s no need to insult other people because your kid got an interview.

^Yeah exactly. If the mom’s that stuck up, I wouldnt want to be within 100 miles of the kid.
And it not snowing where I live either? Honestly, its not snowing in a lot of places, and im sick of it and want to go to the snow! Weird huh? But yeah, one of the criterion for OOS for me was that it snows at least 2 months a year. Might as well while we’re in college and dont have to shovel right?
But good for you that you got it! I agree with Iamsocool; I kicked myself when I got rejected from union, and I will seriously cry for a day if I get rejected from SBU, but I just tossed this letter to the side when i got it. It was surprisingly whateverish lol (maybe because it was cause i explicitly decided and told my mom i wasnt going to waste money on a plane ticket to fly to interview there even if I got it.)

bsmd: I think you’re more of a somebody than any of those pretentious snobs like momtofive. Dont let her get you down, they just think they’re better than you because of an acceptance letter to a program.

^Why thank you. And don’t worry, parents like these never let me down. An acceptance for an interview in Alabama doesn’t excite me too much anyway. :)

LOL the parent got bullied. Sometimes, when a parent is one this site, i wonder whether it’s the student or parent that really cares…

Hey awesomesauce, sorry to hear about Union :(. I still haven’t heard back =/. we have similar stats i think. Anyway, I hope you get SBU, it’s a top prospect for me as well, and i loved the whole “family” thing between the program students there. Goodluck at DC ;)

On the bright side, we won’t have to go to Birmingham for school

This must be from someone who’s never been to B’ham. I’m a Southern Calif native and I’ve been all over this country, so I have some perspective on B’ham. B’ham is a very cool city…lots to do…very modern…very cosmopolitan. If you think B’ham is some backwards rural city, you could not be more wrong.

we hope that our son gets into UAB med school. He’s already in college, and he didn’t apply EMSAP, but we’re hoping he is accepted when he does apply.

I was told by Ms. Johnson that you will be treated as an OOS candidate for the entire medical school. Who wants to pay $49,000 in tuition every year? I have great medical schools in Florida for a 50% discount. I have declined the EMSAP offer in January. Good luck to others.

Who wants to pay $49,000 in tuition every year?

No one wants to, but unless you get accepted to your instate public, that’s what you’d be paying for wherever you go.

Ok, I wasn’t hating on your city. Relax.

I would just rather be in Ann Arbor.

Mom2collegekids, you told me that you are OOS. Are you fine with UAB charging $49,000for attending med school. I am confused.

MomToFive What Prep books did your DD use to get the 34 on her ACT? And other Test scores?
