I have a 4.0 GPA - that's it. I didn't really join any clubs in my 2yr college and did a petite amount of volunteering and such...

Is that why I didn't get a letter like others?

I feel kinda bummed. The whole purpose of my 4.0 was to get large sums of scholarship cash for UC's and I got passed over. My major is film so GPA really didn't matter as much as others except for CAL...I felt all the hard work from my "rebirth" of my lazy high school days were kinda pointless. I really didn't have to stress and sacrifice and enslave myself for those A's...

What's the profile of a REGENT's scholar for those who got a letter?

I think they’re done at this point. The due date for the essay, letter of recommendation, and transcripts (must be in the office by) is Mar 25th. The latter two take time to accomplish, especially if you want a solid LOR and non-rushed transcripts. (though even rush could take a few weeks).

hmm…i thought they simply send it to everyone with a 4.0…it doesn’t seem like they could have already gone through everyone’s app before they sent out the letters, and a 4.0 is the only thing they say they look for, for an invitation…

I miswrote that. Learning is my BIGGEST priority in college. However, getting the A’s was second. I definitely learned a lot and I am deeply proud of that, but take in consideration the many all-nighters I did for assignments/classes that I particularly didn’t care too much about and would have been happy/satisfied to have received a B irks me somewhat…

Yeah…I don’t really know what their process…It’d be funny if they just put all names in a giant lottery wheel and pick the first 350 names of applicants…;)

i feel your pain about not getting an invite for UCLA regents.

I’m a 4.0 student and I’m super involved at school…student government, clubs, student state senate, internships but nope nothing came in the mail for me :(
