Wow. how confusing.. So I just found the final clarification about both UCLA Regents and Berkeley Regents.

I talked to reps from BOTH schools as well as the financial aid office for both schools.

So apparently, if you have a 4.0 and YOU didn't get an email from UCLA, i strongly suggest you call the UCLA rep, Alejandra Ramirez, about your possible status as a regents nominee. Because until I emailed her last night and received a response today, I thought I was not nominated. I found out today, I was nominated and simply did not receive an email about it. I do not know why I was not contacted but I can only assume that the budget cuts have left staff undermanned and possibly some people were left out of the loop about regents. If you are nominated, there are absolutely NO exceptions as to when the application is due. Although I found out today, I am planning to drive the transcript over to LA tomorrow as well as get the recommendation and essay done by thursday. Kind of rushed but I feel I can finish it. I hope that those similar to my situation also find solace by contacting the UCLA rep.

ON THE OTHER HAND, UCB's regent program is completely different. To complicate things more, it is not only different for each school but the handling of the whole process is different even between freshman and transfer applicants within UCB. The freshmen are nominated and are invited to interview early march. They are then told about their regent status by the end of march. On the other hand, transfer applicants will have no notification about anything regents until after notice of your acceptance. If you are accepted at the end of April and you have a 4.0 at your respected CC's(~400 people), then that pool is sent to the faculty of UCB. The faculty then choose from the 400 the people they feel are most qualified for Regents and you will be notified by Mid May. ATTENTION: UCB Regents requires NO actions from students from now until you find out your regent status.

Just wanted to bump this because it’s handy info. I received UCLA’s invite but was bummed that I didn’t hear from Cal…until now that is.

For those of you that got UCLA’s invitation, have you submitted your applications yet? I’m finishing up my essay now. I know it’s probably best to submit these things earlier but it is what is I suppose.

Yep, I finished submitting everything for the UCLA Regents on Wednesday night. I was actually able to deliver my official transcript to the Scholarship office—it was a good chance to check out their Financial Aid office. I had never been to that part of the campus before.

Do we find out whether or not we received the scholarship at the time of admission notification?

i’m guessing if you lost your 4.0 gpa you won’t be eligible for regents anymore, but thought i’d ask just to make sure…i just got an A- in a 5 unit course bringing me to a 3.97gpa :
