My school doesn't currently (and will never) offer AP lit and comp, and I was planning on taking it this year. However, after searching this forum for quite a while, I haven't found much info on it.

Basically, what materials should I use to study with? A textbook or prep-book suggestion would be most welcome.

Also, has anyone here self-studied the exam? If so, what did you get? I'm not entirely convinced that I should self-study for this exam, but my school doesn't offer it, so I might as well. If I fail, I suppose I can retake it next year when I take AP Lang.

But please, if you've taken it, some advice :)

Simply because my school is extremely math and science oriented, and underfunded as it is, 082349. We offer all AP math and sciences, but when it comes to languages and the humanities in general, we lack many classes (and these classes are very big, underfunded, and taught by the worst teachers imaginable- teachers who teach from Shakespeare for Dummies, for example). Of our 90 minute block, my HONORS english teacher came to class 40 minutes late every morning, sometimes later. And when she did finally arrive, we had a class discussion of what we were all doing that night and what we did the day before. We literally had like three essays, one of which wasn’t graded, and three other assignments. Basically we were handed A’s the moment we walked in the door on the first day of the semester. Biggest waste of time ever.

IN stark contrast, the honors math department is taught almost solely by one teacher- a rigorous man who makes you work your but off to get even a B. One of my friends who’s a math major at Stanford (graduated junior year of high school) got two B’s from him. Tough? Most definitely.

Sorry… ranting here :P

Anyway, doesn’t appear as if anyone has self-studied this exam without an accompanying lit course. Guess I’ll have to settle for a different AP then… stupid psych may be the best option :(
