Is AP US History hard or easy?

I’m currently taking 3 AP’s and honors, The thing is that my counselor couldn’t get me enrolled in APUSH and I’m stuck in regular US History,I thought it would be an easy A for me but my teacher grades me weirdly, i never had any trouble with a regular class. My history teacher made me sit with a group of people that are not concerned with their grades at all! I tried to take with him many times during this semester and he’s not quite helpful, Today in class i made it clear to my teacher that he shouldn’t expect me to do all the work assigned to my group and i went on doing some part and wrote my name next to it! I heard that i can get enrolled in APUSH for second semester, So what would you guys recommend? APUSH or Honors? because i don’t wanna stay in regular with that teacher and lazy students!!!

I wouldn’t recommend switching into APUSH mid-semester unless it is a semester-long class at your high school. From reading your comments, it sounds like you may have a bit of an attitude problem. Try to work with your teacher and your fellow students to perform better in history. Just because it’s not AP doesn’t mean it should be easy.

One more thing during the first quarter i had all my work turned in and i’m working hard student with a good GPA so far! I ended up having a B as my quarter grade, I asked my teacher if he could pass me back some of the assignments that I did and performed poorly on! But it turned out to be that it was mostly because of the groups that work with! I’m against how someone’s performance can have impact on my grade

Thank you for the early reply I appreciate it!

I’m an APUSH teacher, and I would NOT recommend coming in halfway through- esp if you are pulling a B in reg. History…

At my school APUSH does not build on itself at all. We went through each chapter in our textbook on the sequence of US History. None of the chapters required knowledge from previous chapters, so I would think that you would be okay going in half way through. However, I can only speak for the context of my school. Ask some of your friends if that’s how APUSH at your school is structured.

At least from taking AP Euro, I saw kids taking normal European History and they were WAY behind. Like four units behind. If you switch into AP, you’re running the risk of missing a TON of content. I really don’t think it’s going to help your transcript either. I don’t think a college is going to be impressed that you took half a year of APUSH. It would be completely pointless. The AP exam is in four months, so teachers are probably going to start prepping in April sometime. As @toowonderful said, if you can’t pull a B in regular, I couldn’t imagine AP is going to make you get an A. I would switch into honors if you’re really considering switching, but not AP.

Oh hey, I was able to pull A in regular and I switched from regular to APUSH I love it!

I’m so glad that my teacher double checked my assignments and gave me what I deserved.

Good for you. Work hard in AP. I’m sure you’ve missed a lot of chapters and methodology but keep advocating for yourself.
Group work where only one person does the work shouldn’t result in that one person getting dinged.
