Is Barack Obama a professor of law at UChicago?

I hope he is! That would be awesome!

he used to be. i think he might teach a class every now and then as an adjunct professor or something along those lines... but he's kind of busy these days!

He is currently on leave, but he is a professor. He has an office on campus and is listed in the professor database and everything. He is supposed to be an amazing lecturer.

I don't think he's been active in the university lately, for obvious reasons.

Yes. He taught quite aggressively for many years and was a student favorite for his electives. He still has a permanent office (looks like a prison cell full of books) on the third floor or so of the law school library with engraved name plate and all.

ha. would it be weird for me to walk by his office?

He is never there, so I doubt anyone would care. Honestly, it looks like a supply closet.

WOW!
I would LOVE to see his office!
I would love to see him be the next president of America as well!
He has my vote
But suppose he does not win, do you think he will come back to Uchicago?

even if he doesn't get the nomination, he is still the senator from illinois, probably busy working at D.C. for his senate job and running for senate reelection

I don't think he's a professor. He's a "senior lecturer (on leave of absence)"

Senior lecturers are considered professors by students. So are associate professors, assistant professors, and advanced grad students who teach their own sections. Basically, whoever is teaching your class will be referred to as a professor, even if it isn't their official title.

Senior Lecturer basically just indicates they have a full time job. They are very much profs though. Richard Posner, arguably one of the most well known Chicago profs outside of the school, is also a SL.

As are Diane Herrmann and John Boller, probably the most well-known among students in the mathematics department behind Paul Sally.

Allen Sanderson, the infamous prof of econ 198 and 199, is a senior lecturer as well.

sanderson...yes...he eats at my house table...
