I'm a Spring 2012 Freshman and just got assigned to Beaty Towers. I was going through threads on here. Is it really that far away from everything/bad location? I thought it was near the engineering school?

Also, kinda random. I know there is a bathroom inside the dorm, but are there also bathrooms on the floor like the other dorms?

Beaty is a great location for freshmen. It’s technically on the edge of campus, yes, but so are most of your classes.
I live in Hume, which is considered a more “central” dorm, and I definitely have to walk much further to pretty much everything than do my friends who live in Beaty. The only place you’re a bit off from is Gator Corner (the better of the dining halls) and the Reitz, but even those are a 15 minute walk, tops.

Oh and there aren’t floor bathrooms.

I live in Beaty and the walks aren’t really that far. 15 minutes max if you walk slowly. But I guess it also depends where your classes are. The only walk I hate is going to pick up my car at Garage V, which is pretty far.

Is there custodial/maid service every so often for the bathrooms?

Yes, every Thursday, the bathroom is cleaned. Not thoroughly but better than nothing.

Also your like 5 min from Broward Dining and Gator Corner stinks anyways

its the furthest dorm from the engineering area besides lakeside. better overall location than the west campus dorms, but i don’t think its worth it over rawlings or broward.

for freshmen year your going to be taking a bunch of gen eds anyways. Plus most of your classes are going to be big lectures anyways and they just put those where ever they fit. EX: my greek history class is in the physics building.
