I really wanted to take AP Environmental Science at my school, but I only recently found out they only offer the class every other year. My only option now is to take Environmental Science at my local community college, which will give me a GPA boost as well as 3 unit credit. Should I go for it? I'm already taking 4 AP Classes & I run cross country after school.

I say go for it. With the credits from the college all you have to do is get above a C and you will automatically get the credits. With AP tests you could pay and there is no promise you will get credits. First, talk to your counselor about how the credits from the college will transfer to other colleges because they might only transfer to instate colleges or certain colleges.

How much will this cost? What colleges will transfer your credits? Could you take AP Environmental Science next year? I was a full-time dual-enrollment student in my senior year and I really liked it, but those are some things to consider.

Remember that any college classes you take in high school will become part of your permanent college transcript, and bad grades can affect you in the future. (Here’s a thread I made where I asked about this.)

Also remember that weighted GPA doesn’t really matter for college admissions (except insofar as it determines your class rank) because all high schools weight grades differently.
