Here is my situation, I have taken the SAT three times two scores of about a 1900 and one of 2250. For the good score, the sections were a 750 in CR, 710 in math, which was suprising because it had previously been my best section, and a 790 in W. I signed up to take it once more December of my senior year just to improve my math and I was wondering if I go and don’t even answer a question on the other sections just so i can better focus on getting an 800 on math for superscorein will colleges look down at that for being a “cheap” trick. Also, I know for a fact I will not do better in reading or writing because i have not studied for them in a while.
PS the only school that this will affect is notre dame and they only take reading and math . I am not applying to any ivies. Also, I got a 800 on math 2 so do you guys think that will make up for that 710 if I don’t retake it. I am applying as a ME so math is really important.
I kinda did that lol, but I didn’t go as far as just not answering the other sections. My CR has always been low so the 3rd SAT I took I only studied CR, didn’t even look at the other sections lol. During the real test I just did my best on math and writing but really focused on getting CR right. My CR improved by 90 points but then I dropped 70 points in math and 70 points in writing kinda expected that but my superscore is pretty good now
but yeah just do your best on the 2 sections you dont care about, dont just not answer them lol.
I don’t think so. I know a lot of people do that. When I retook the SAT in October, I focused a lot on improving my CR section (well, and M, but CR the most). If I were you, I would heavily focus on and study the section that you want the most improvement in. If you work on practice tests, put the most effort into the section you want to improve. However, do not slack off in the other two sections; make sure you answer the remaining 2 sections to the best of your ability as well. It would look suspicious (and your score might even get delayed) if you leave sections blank.
Colleges that superscore universally assert that they use the highest section scores to determine admission and do not hold lower scores against you. However, none of them assert that they will not hold the fact that you blew off two sections of the test against you.
