Is having a "generic" essay bad for me?

I have an essay that talks about how I went to the countryside in China and how I learned to open my mind to new things after I saw things there (not actual wording). I like to think it's pretty well written. I got a lot of people who themselves had wrote Ivy League-level essays to proofread and they also all think it's pretty decent. However, it does follow the typical "experience... experience... realization of a problem... learned from my mistake won't do it again in the future" format if you know what I'm saying.

Normally this wouldn't concern me a lot, but with a 3.35 weighted GPA and a 2200 combined SAT I feel like my profile is extremely skewered and abnormal. I literally can't find a single applicant with my credentials when I check Naviance or Collegedata so yeah, I'm a bit worried. Since my GPA/SAT don't match up at all, would a non-groundbreaking essay hurt me and make colleges view me as just a slacker with a good SAT and not some special case student?

I'm sort of banking on a little intangible stuff to help me into the top schools I'm applying too, so I am afraid this essay won't cut it. That being said, I am actually pretty crappy at creative writing and was surprised I could put my "generic" one together this well. Any insight would be helpful though.

If you need anymore background information:
-Chinese male, East Coast
-Did terrible Freshman year, barely better Sophomore year, decent Junior year, 4 APs Sr year (doing well in all at the moment)
-Only honors/AP class was Chinese until Senior year (terrible, I know)
-Have Math II and US History SAT2s coming in, expecting at least 700-750+ on both
