Is Information Systems a worthwhile major?

I’m currently a third year in accounting and I don’t think I want to be an accountant anymore. MIS seems more interesting than accounting and it seems like there is a more broad range of career opportunities with MIS vs accounting. The major description and the career option descriptions all sound so appealing, however, upon searching the internet for more information, I’ve found that some people say that it’s a useless major because to do anything with computers you need an engineering degree and that most people end up working tech support. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Thanks
