Is it a good idea to take both SAT and AP in May?

First, is there anyone planning to take both SAT and AP in May?

My friend avoid taking them both in May last year because she thinks she can't prepare adequately when she has both of them.
Btw, I self-study for the AP, and I am an international.

Just wondering if this is a good idea? And have you taken them both? What's your opinion on this?

Do you mean the SAT Reasoning test? That may be a bit hard to study for, especially if it’s your first time. If you’re talking about subject tests… you definitely want to take the corresponding SAT II exams as close to the APs as possible.

Are you talking about Reasoning or Subject Tests?

Anyway, I’m taking the AP in May and SAT subject tests in June.

If it’s Reasoning that she’s going for, it’s best not to take it in May I suppose.

I’m talking about the reasoning test, but it’s not my first time, still aiming for better score though.

Especially if you’re self-studying for APs, I don’t think it’s a good idea. You’re going to want to prepare for the SAT when you don’t have any other huge standardized tests looming over your head, and there’s no way you can put off studying for APs until May 2.

Yes, it’s not a bad idea. A lot of kids in the US study for AP’s and SAT’s to take in May. As long as you’re adequately prepared, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Just note: taking the SAT too many times can harm your application. Try not to take it more than twice (this would be your last time hopefully, so make sure you’re prepared).

If one thinks that he or she can improve the third time, retaking is the best idea.

Only if it is a large improvement. If it’s to get a 2350 to a 2400, for example, colleges will frown upon it (at least Ivy’s will).

I am planning to take the SAT in February. Then, my first SAT Subject in March, my second in April, the AP exams in May, then my last in June. I think it’ll work for me. How’s this for a suggestion? =]

Okay WOW but isn’t it a bit tiring to have tests every month? If you’re prepared, of course you can also do that. Subject Tests will be good preparation for APs. Good luck! (:

AH geez…I just realized you can’t take the tests in February or April. I guess I’ll just have to plan another schedule…

Whoops… I wasn’t aware that you could take the SAT subject tests so many times throughout the year!!

Oh, I didn’t check that schedule either!

Why don’t you take the SAT in June? since May to June isn’t that much of a difference for your fall application =]
