Is it a good thing that Brown contacts counselors for ED applicants?

Hey, thanks so much for responding! You all sound so much more calm, cool, and collected than me, haha. Guess we'll see for sure if the calls have nothing to do with our decisions in less than two days.....

I didn't get a call either and I know my counselor didn't send Q1 grades :/

me neither
hey on decision day (less than two days!!) erry1 should put down whether theyre counselor got called
maybe theres a pattern

they probably only call if their mind's not made up. If they definitely want you or definitely don't, they wouldn't bother calling.

I don't know whether or not I got a call, I don't ever see my GC haha.

FWIW, I got into Brown RD years back and my counselor did not receive a call.

I would guess since the calls now seem to be primarily asking for quarter grades, there wouldn't be many class in the regular decision round, or at least not for the same purpose.

no call for me. my boyfriend got a call from his ED school....

Modest, I think Adequate is right. I don't really understand how your story is pertinent to ED admissions. During the RD round, every applicant is obligated to send a mid-year report. For ED, quarter grades aren't required.

Well my counselor got an e-mail =P
I don't know what to make of it really =P And it's funny to see that the people who got a call are panicking and people who DIDN'T get a call are also panicking =D
I guess it just means that you are neither definitely out nor definitely in.
Well we'll learn in just 27 hours and 48 minutes =D

tdp-- I did say, "FWIW" = for what its worth.

I wasn't making my post about my experience the definitive statement...

I'm panicking because if I'm not on the line (I didn't get a call) then I'm definitely out because I know FOR SURE that I'm not definitely in. :(

Oh well, at this point it's not like I can do anything..

tlj, you never know though. Don't count yourself out so soon!

Think about it. Brown gets thousands of applications. There is NO WAY admissions calls everyone's guidance counselor. It is rare for them to make these phone calls. I know tensions are high and you are all nervous, but I think you are taking this wildly out of perspective -- these calls seem particularly meaningless.

What I don't understand is why first quarter grades were not submitted. They were required two years ago. Seems to me that there was probably an aide in Admissions who was asked to call the schools of applicants whose grades were missing.

I don't know. To my knowledge my Q1 grades weren't sent because the app was due Nov. 1 and my first quarter closed Nov. 7. Maybe guidance sent them after? If so, I sure didn't know about it.

i went and talked to my counselor, and what do you know, brown called for my grades also. i figure it might be border line applicants, but i don't think it really means anything positive or negative. anyways, im a bit frustrated because my first quarter grades were not the best, my grades are better now, and a bunch of stuff hadn't been put in by my teachers. My counselor said though that they were absolutely fine, and that she had room too write extra about me, and she thought that was good.

We'll see.

Good luck to everyone.
