Is it allowed to use some examples regarding politics in Essay.

Hey guys

sometimes, I find some political problems in some coutries can be used as my examples in my essay, but will I get into trouble by criticizing the political scandals or problems in some coutries( other than US) ....

thanks :)

hello
i don't think that there is a problem with critizising other countries, but don't be so harsh.... The objective of the essay is not the content, it is how well structurally is it written.... But i would think it before critizising the US, since u r searching for education in there..... u can maybe mention it as "capilalistic countries showing imperialistic behaviors towards other economically weak countries...."

hope this helps

tashin

o, thanks so much tashin

anyone else

Yes. I almost always use political issues in my essays (practice & when I took the real SAT). The real SAT I got an 8, I'm now getting about 10 every time on my practice tests. I believe if you write well, give examples dealing with the topic, and are detailed, they don't care about what you write, so long as it isn't a hypothetical situation.

well that is the computer grading them... so they cant really have a bias towards politics :)

I'd say okay but refrain from insensitively criticizing the Democrats/Republicans because the chances are just too high that you might be criticizing someone that the essay grader supports. They are more likely to have a bias about Rep/Dem as opposed to, say if you commented negatively about the Prime Minister of Japan, for example.

But keep in mind that you are not trying to criticize anyone in your essay. Just use the facts objectively to convey how you feel -- I wrote about senatorial scandals (senators convicted of child molestation...etc.) in my last essay and still received a 10.

ok, thank you so much, guys

I don't think there is anything wrong with using politics.
