Is it better to buy the newest edition of AP prep books?

Is it always better to buy the newest edition of prep books? Say, for APES, everyone pretty much agrees that PR is the most suitable; however, while looking on Amazon, I noticed that there are 2 editions (2011 and 2012). 2012 was just released a couple of days ago and has no reviews yet but 2011 has a couple of good ones. So which do you suggest I should buy?

As for Dr. John Chung SAT math book, the latest edition was the one back in 2009. Would it still be as helpful for SAT 2012?

Thanks!

Unless the syllabus has changed e.g. world history, you can buy the older books which usually tend to be cheaper.

Well, what about Direct Hits then? The latest edition is in 2010 and obviously, some words should be added right?

not necessarily…they can use some of the same words more than once. And it’s not like they’re creating new words to put on the test. Don’t both volumes of DH have like 1000 words combined? uh, you’ll be fine

The 2011 edition took out some words and added others.

Unless there is a major change applied to the test that year (e.g. taking like 15 chapters out of Bio next year - i think its next year) then get the newest edition. Other than that they are pretty much the same so if you can get a good price on the old one go for it. If the prices are pretty much the same, you may as well go with the newer edition

It doesn’t matter very much unless the syllabus is updated. The older ones are usually a bit cheaper, if that’s a concern.
