Maybe you accidentally posted this for the wrong school? GT would be a reach with your stats, but you never know if you don’t apply. If you can afford it, go for it. You may just have something they’re looking for.

yeah sorry i meant to say applying undecided engineering and i really dont have anything i was just wondering where scores put me mainly for oos applicants.

OOS acceptance rate overall was 18% last year and will likely be lower this year given that applications were up overall by 7%. GT is D18’s top choice (ChemE) and she’s aware that it’s a reach even with her 1410 SAT and 4.0UW GPA (7AP, 14 Honors).

Personally I think the SAT subject tests are useless given the overall high scores that students seem to receive (an 800 on the Math 2 for example puts you in the 79th percentile, meaning that more than 1 in 5 get a perfect score on that exam…how is that even remotely useful?). GT however may feel differently.

My OOS kid got in with a 33…and with strong ECs. I do believe its worth applying.

Always worth it.

I think its worth applying to Georgia Tech, especially if you are considering economics as your major,
as how many kids apply in that major, very few. It IS worth it to take SAT subject exams, but only submit if
they are very high.

Review the on line problems for the SAT physics subject exam.

SAT subject exam test scores seem to help students get merit scholarships at schools like Case Western Reserve U,
and get admitted to schools that call them optional, such as GT. The Physics subject exam is
one of the easier tests in the sciences, if you have a strong physics background, or self study,
it is pretty easy to score an 800.
I think that the subject exams can set apart a student who has a weak background, but so many students can easily score an 800, that it does not really tell the admissions office much, although its required for MIT, and other east coast colleges, so Georgia Tech may assume you are applying to MIT if you take and submit them.
