Is it normal to have class All Day, Every day?

It seems I have class every day, even tho I am only taking:

Microbiology 3
Microbiology Lab 2
Japanese 6
Organic Chem 3

As you can see, it's only a total of 14 credits, which I thought was a fairly light load. But I made my schedule and those classes meet like ALL the time. I literally go to class from like 10 AM to 3 PM three days a week, and the other two days I go from like 11 AM to 2 PM.

Is that normal? Will I even be able to study and stuff? I have to do work study too!

That schedule is very normal. Most days I went 9-3 everyday. It wasn't until last semester that I didn't have Friday class.

Here's a breakdown:

Monday:

10:10 - 11:00 - Organic Chem

11:15 - 12:05 - Microbiology

1:25 - 2:15 - Japanese

3:35 - 4:25 - Japanese Discussion

Tuesday:

12:20 - 2:15 - Micro Lab

3:35 - 4:25 - Japanese Discussion

Wed:

10:10 - 11:00 - Organic Chem

11:15 - 12:05 - Microbiology

1:25 - 2:15 - Japanese

3:35 - 4:25 - Japanese Discussion

Thur:

12:20 - 2:15 - Micro Lab

3:35 - 4:25 - Japanese Discussion

Fri:

10:10 - 11:00 - Organic Chem

11:15 - 12:05 - Microbiology

12:20 - 1:10 - Microbiology Lab Discussion

3:35 - 4:25 - Japanese Discussion

I'm just worried if that's doable? I will still have time for my work-study, as well as studying, doing homework, and socializing?

Were you able to do it no problem, Dew?

I worked and studied everyday....socializing was for Friday/Saturday night. I slept in a bit on Sundays and did work the rest of the day. Once you create your routine and get into the swing you'll be fine. Your schedule will lighten up as you move on.

i never worked in high school and was overwhelmed working at cornell...i think it would be best to have weekend/night jobs so you can do your work during the week/daytimes

just get a feel for it...yeah sometimes you'll have to give up going out...or work all day and party all night...

You are in class for a total of three hours on Tuesday and Thursday. How is that ALL THE TIME?

Stop whining.

And Micro lab doesn't always meet for the entire lab period

Seconded.

By the way, we're in the same ochem lecture.

It looks as if Japanese is taking all your time.

How did you get to pick your classes all ready?

sorry for dp

You won't see him unless you know him :-P

you can go to schedulizer.com and have a rough idea as to what your schedule might look like for fall...

though you wont know which lectures/sections have space...so good luck :)

The new PeopleSoft system allows students to see how many seats are left in a class.

yes it does! but schedulizer does not! so i guess the best thing to do is adjust your schedule on schedulizer based on what's available from JTF.CORNELL.EDU

and even though a certain lecture/section may be packed you can usually get into it especially if you have a conflict with other classes you might need :D

Well...I meant you could use the info on JTF to make a schedule on Schedulizer. Then again...I don't really trust schedulizer.

When is the deadline to choose our courses? Because I have no idea what to choose, hoping to get some information about the courses during the orientation.

course selection will be discussed with you during your orientation...

thats not a lot of class time lol..

Eh..you're right. It looked like more on the weekly view, but STILL,

I won't have much time to do homework before or imbetween classes, so it's the same as my day not really starting until 4 PM everyday..

I say squeeze in an easy humanities class and drop it if you can't handle all the classes!

Btw, find a work study job such as working in the library where you can study during your shift.
