Is it Penn or UPenn

I'm editing my essay and University of Pennsylvania is just too long - that's 26 characters with spacing!

so, is the "proper form" Penn or UPenn?

thanks for reading! :)

Penn, I have heard.

admissions prefers Penn

thank you very much :)

In real life I tell people UPenn though, so they don’t think it’s Penn State.

Well the clubs there are all Penn ___ ___ so I just used Penn.

Yeah on campus everyone uses Penn… however before I got there I always referred to it as UPenn to differentiate between that and PSU… I used UPenn in my admissions essays and it was no problem at all. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Go to the Penn Bookstore and find any article of clothing that says “UPenn” on it, and I’ll buy it for you. :)

(Among those in the know, it’s Penn. )

Usually you use UPenn so people won’t mix it up with Penn state. But everyone on campus uses Penn and on everywhere on ANYTHING that is by this college and about this college says Penn, not UPenn :)

nelesy: Why is it

http://www.upenn.edu

then? :P

If you get rid of the “u” in the URL you’ll get to the same place!

It’s Penn. Unless you are talking to some incompetent person who says “Woo! Go Nittany Lions.”

Only Penn

The most annoying is when people write UPENN

it doesn’t matter as long as you’re consistent
