Is it possible for me to attend California Polytechnic Pomona?

Hello! If you guys can, could you look at my scores and see how I stack up. What do you guys think?
I’m considering the Computer Science and the Mechanical Engineering Majors, Which of these would I be most likely be accepted to?

GPA as of application: 3.06
SAT score: Reading: 590
Writing: 490
Math: 520
take 2 AP classes as of now (AP Literature and Composition & AP US Government)

If this really even matters: I’m an African American female, East coast.

  1. California publics banned affirmative action so being an African American will have no bearing your chances.
  2. Since both Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science are impacted majors at Cal Poly Pomona, you need a minimum SAT Math score of 550 for consideration and even at that minimum, chances are slim.
  3. Your GPA and Total SAT scores are not competitive for these majors.

Cal Poly Pomona will be a Reach. You need to look for realistic match schools that will not cost you $36K/year with no financial aid.

I agree with @GumbyMom, the competition to get into the CalPoly’s is very difficult with your GPA and SAT scores. It would be a big reach.
