Am transferring over, however considering the possibility of returning to community college to do prereqs. Just exploring options.
Yes, I was just recently admitted into UCLA school of medicine, and finished all my pre reqs at the CC.
@UCLAFFF Hot damn dude congrats. Also, OP, yes I know two people who transferred into UCLA and UCB from CC’s. One is now at UC Davis School of Medicine and the other is at Boston University SOM.
If I understand you correctly you are going to transfer to a UC, but once at the UC hope to go back to a CC to take the med school prereqs. First off, you probably won’t get UC credit for doing this; I think they have rules against CC classes once you hit a certain level. Second, the med schools will take this as a sign you ducked the competition at your UC.
@naregian Yes, am sure it’s possible, however considering going back to CC after finishing UC to take premed reqs.
@UCLAFFF Kudos for your success! Hopefully many others will follow your example.
@mikemac Good point. Is there a way for people to note that they didn’t have room to take those prereqs while in their last two years of undergrad? I’d imagine most take these courses anyway during CC before transferring. It’s just that I’m not taking a STEM major, and haven’t considered taking those courses in CC before.
you don’t have to graduate in 2 years if you can stay under the unit cap at the UC. Otherwise there are post-bac programs; see http://www.usnews.com/education/best-graduate-schools/top-medical-schools/articles/2014/01/02/find-a-postbaccalaureate-premed-program-that-fits-you for starters
