Is it possible to switch into History at UCLA?

I got in with my alternate major (Anthropology) and was wondering if I could switch into History. I know History is listed as "impacted", but I've heard that it's possible to switch into it. Any thoughts? Anyone been through the process/know someone who has?

bumping for great justice.

what were your stats?

the reason I’m asking is because I’m still pending as TAP w/primary major history and alternate philosophy…so i might be in the same position.

3.3x GPA (3.8 major GPA)
pre-reqs/IGETC completed
loads of EC’s

did you have TAP?..and did you complete all the pre reqs for anthropology?

yup I’ve got TAP; UCLA doesn’t consider you for an alternate major without it.

For Anthropology I completed 2/3 classes that are offered at my CC.

nope. can’t switch into an impacted major

I think TAP students might be exceptions, especially because we were considered for our first-choices after having completed all the requirements for them. I suggest you email the director (or whatever they’re called) of the history dept or talk to a history dept. counselor on orientation day. I’m doing the same, though not switching (I’m asking to double major).

Depends on how impacted the major is and how many prereqs you have done, and what your GPA is after one quarter. Yes, in general people like to tell you that you can’t, but you can…however, you need to wait a quarter, maintain a good GPA, have prereqs done, and find out how impacted that major is. Some majors, even if they are impacted, you can switch into, some you simply can’t because they are off limit majors for switching.
