Is it possible???

I just took one of the practice tests out of the blue book and my scores were
550 M, 450 W, 450 R. I'm planning on taking the SATs next year. So is it possible to raise my scores to near perfect in a year?? How much studying should I do without overdoing it?? What are some study guides that are based specifiacally on each section that are good??

1 year is a long time if u use if efficiently, did u read the xiggi thread?

plus i found these books helpful Barrons - Math RR- Writing and i dont know which book is good for verbal

I'm not trying to burst your bubble or anything but going from a 1450 to a near perfect score isn't the most likely thing. Then again maybe your scores weren't completely accurate because you took a self practice test but still, if I was you I'd set my goals a little lower. No offense because you can definitly improve but adding 950 points is damn near impossible.

Ya true, but I'm a rising sophmore and I think I have about 1 1/2 years of studying or maybe even more. So I think I can maybe do it.

So is it possible?? Cmon anymore opinions

I would say "near perfect" might be tough, but raising your score A LOT, like.. to 2000 level is possible. I took a $15 proctored exam at my school and I got a 15 something and my PSAT was a 1450. I studied my butt off and got an 1830 on the actual in march. Now I am prepping for November exam, so, we'll see how I do, but I think it is possible. I raised about 350-400 points in 5 months.

Any advice

So who thinks its possible

I think it's possible, but does that make you feel any better? If you were to devote your "whole life" to the SAT for one year, then you should be near your target score.

After studying one year, you might be able to increase to about 2000, but asking for a 900 point boost is asking for far too much. You have stuff to do in between. You can't be 100% devoted.

its possible man. take practice tests like everysinlge weekend and study each weeekday and its doable

You WILL do it.

Youu caaaan dooooo it!!!!

2400-1450=950

I have never ever heard of anyone raise their scores by 950 points. First of all, set a realistic goal. How about by December, raise your score by a 150 points.

After you've done that set another goal. By June of next yeaer raise that score ANOTHER 200 points, getting you to a decent score of 1800.

Now study hard until you take the SAT in the fall. Try to raise the score another 200 points.

Follow this reasonable timeline, and I'm sure you can get that score to 2000, a solid score. Just don't be completely unreasonble to yourself. Be realistic, I think a 2000 is definitely possible with lots of study and hard work.

I wouldn't listen to anyone's OPINION on this thread.
You CAN get a near perfect score (or a perfect one)! It will take A LOT of work and you will have to sacrifice A LOT!

You can raise that 450 in writing to an 800 most definatetely!

I rose my score by 180 pts in literally, one week....

if you're motivated, I don't see why you can't.

Lower scores are easier to raise. 1450 can be easily raised to 1800 in one month, just to get you started...

You'll probably do a lot better than you thought.

First of all, most practice books are insanely hard and I scored 250 points higher than it said I would.

Secondly, I suggest you start reading a lot of boring non-fiction books with long words in them.
