Is it really necessary....

to take the SAT II subject tests to get into an ivy league or similar institution? I took bio soph year and don't remember anything. Is there a way to not take these tests and still get in?

SAT IIs are required for all ivy league and ivy league caliber schools. Some require you to take two while some require you to take three in separate subjects. If biology is not your strong point there are other tests mainly Math 2 which has a ridiculous curve and literature, chemistry, history, etc.

which are the easiest ones. also when is the best time to take them. Please help me since I do need to take them now.

i dont know which test are the easiest but im a rising junior and next year im goin to take math II, U.S. history, and physics......i know lit is one of the harder sat IIs

Taking the ACT will cover all of your bases for top schools.

Not quite; some Ivies require SAT IIs even if you take the ACT, some don't. Check the individual websites to be sure.

OP, if you're a rising junior, take the SAT IIs in June after the course is over, or in May after the AP test if you're taking it. If you're a rising senior, take them as sson as you feel you've reviewed enough to take them.

Yeah... SAT IIs are best taken after their corresponding AP tests... that way, you don't need to study for them... I'm so evil =)

Totally true. This year I took the SAT IIs corresponding to my AP courses. I got a 5 on both and a 710 and 800 on the SATs. But no matter, 'cause Im taking four more next year. :)

I wish I would have did that LesOs. I took mine in my senior year and I totally bombed all three that I had to take (no wonder I got rejected from Harvard--lol).

My school doesn't have APs, so should I even go for a school that requires SAT II's? I'm planning on taking the SAT for admissions, and the ACT for brag rights, though I can report both.

I know Brown, Yale, and Stanford don't require SAT II's if you have the ACT, and the majority of schools don't require them at all, though they will consider them if you report them.

If I don't want to take a Science SAT II, then can I just get by with, say, Lit, USH, and Spanish, or maybe Math 2? No one around here has heard of SAT II's, so I don't really know much about them.

If you're going to major in science or engineering, you should take a science. If not, any two in different areas (like, history & English; English & math; etc., but not World & US history) should be sufficient.

Check the websites of the schools you're interested in to be sure.

I was planning on business something-or-other or economics.

how is the SAT US Hist test? I gave the AP and got a 5 but by the time i take it in oct do you think it will still be easy?

I've heard the US History test was easier than the World History test just because the sheer amount of information that is possible for world history is staggering compared to US History.
