Is it too late to get a non-menial job?

Everything I wanted to do for the summer has fallen through, so now is it too late to find any cool job with decent pay for the summer in my area? If not, where should I look?

I'm a rising sophomore btw.

A lot of businesses have issues with hiring people your age...I'm a rising junior, but I skipped a grade and I have a late birthday, so I had a lot of trouble finding places that would employ me.

Call around small local businesses. If your town has a historical district, try some of the mom-and-pop places there. Sometimes working there is better than flipping burgers or being a busboy/girl, and maybe the wages would be better too.

Yanners, the original poster is a rising sophomore in college, not high school...

Bump. I'mhaving the same problem now.

have the same question. planned on taking summer classes, which i learned today fell through. :(

However, I was also wondering, would getting my real estate license be an OK idea for the summer, with the option of doing some sort of work in that field later this summer once I complete it?

If any big companies or banks are near you, cold-call, walk in, send a letter... anything. You'll be surprised by the results. Good luck.
